WHAT DOES SKYDIVING FEEL LIKE?
Folks usually attempt to associate new situations to those they have experienced in the past, and in most cases this makes some sense. Does it seem like an elevator? Perhaps a rollercoaster? Skydiving is too different for someone to compare it. Your gut won't wrench, and the anticipated sensation of falling isn't there. If anything, freefall is about as near to 'pure adrenaline' as we can get. With a surprising turn of events, the parachute ride is often smooth sailing with a bit of grandeur as you take in the sights.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN THE PARACHUTE OPENS?
More surprising than anything, your parachute will feel like you're all of a sudden sailing upward rather than slowing down. In order, the main parachute is always preceded by the initial chute. Whenever gravity takes control again, the following step will be a slow-moving and steady descent to the drop zone. The tandem instructor will delay their landing up until the drop area is completely clear before bringing you down for landing in a seated pose.
What takes place if my parachute doesn't release or I forget to release it?
While this is a highly unlikely situation, there is always a backup plan. Reserve parachutes are provided in each and every rig and are prepared by the best FAA licensed riggers. For your security, all of our rigs are routinely checked and serviced to sustain or surpass USPA safety standards. Your reserve chute is deployed when you arrive at a low altitude and the primary chute has not been deployed. A device referred to as an AAD (Automatic Activation Device) is activated and the reserve chute is launched immediately to enable the skydiver to land securely.

Regardless of the nervous emotions, you can rest assured your skydive will be one of the most excellent events of your life. You will be too overwhelmed with the adrenaline surge to give your anxieties another consideration.
Making sure I'm ready to go, what do I need to do?
